By reconstructing a 3D morphable model from a single 2D photograph and driving it with a generative micro-expression model, the weapon produces a virtual-camera feed that passes structured-light liveness, 3D depth checks, and challenge-response gaze tracking.
The 2027 attack wave targeted remote account-recovery flows at three major banks. Attackers presented synthesized video of the account holder responding correctly to random head-turn and blink challenges. The systems, which had passed independent liveness audits, accepted the synthetic feed and reset credentials.
Defense now requires multi-modal liveness — combining infrared thermal signatures, radar micro-Doppler from involuntary micromovements, and device-attested camera provenance. None of these are deployed at consumer scale.
